The originator of the adaptation of Aranjuez Adagio
Miles Davis, one of the leading figures in American jazz, was the first person to perform Aranjuez Adagio in a non-classical music form. This album was recorded between 1959 and 1960. It is a classic among jazz classics and was officially released in July 1960. It won the 1961 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Composition of More Than Five Minutes Duration. Davis served as the solo trumpeter, and the album's success was indispensable to Canadian Gil Evans, who was responsible for the arrangement and orchestra conductor.
