The Concerto of Aranjuez premiered on November 9, 1940, at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, with César Mendoza Lasalle conducting the Orquesta Filarmónica de Barcelona. The guitar soloist is the dedicatee, Professor Regino Sainz de la Maza. On December 11 of the same year, it was performed at the Teatro Español de Madrid in the capital Madrid, conducted by Jesús Arámbarri. The success of the performance made the composer and his works famous. But the first recording of this work was released eight years after its premiere. A set of three 78 rpm vinyl records released by Columbia Records. The soloist is still Professor Mazar and Ataulfo Argenta conducts the Orchestra Nacional de España. This set of records is now hard to find. In 2011, Chanterelle Records, a subsidiary of Rushhome Records in San Francisco, USA, released the remastered CD, the album number CHR 004.
