The great Arab singing diva Fairuz (1934-), sometimes spelled as Fairouz, Feyrouz, or Fayrouz. Her real name is Nuhad Haddad.
Those unfamiliar with Arabic music might not realize the immense stature of this diva in the Arab music scene. A girl from the countryside with a love for singing transformed into a legendary singer known throughout the Arab world, and she even graced the stages of many renowned concert halls worldwide. This alone is a legendary story. Fairuz’s singing career spans over 40 years, with over 1,500 songs recorded, over 100 albums released, and over 150 million records sold globally. She also performed in 20 musicals and appeared in films and television series.

This album was produced by Fairuz herself, with her son Ziad Rahbani as the actual producer. The album contains 11 tracks, most of which were composed or arranged by Ziad. All the songs were recorded between 1983 and 1984, but the album wasn't officially released until 1987. Prior to its release, the songs might have already been broadcast on the radio, during the height of the Lebanese Civil War. The song "Li Beirut," considered a national mourning anthem for Lebanon, was written by Joseph Harb, born in 1944, one of Lebanon’s most prominent contemporary poets.
The album is titled Maarifti Feek, which is often translated into English as Our Encounter by various music websites, suggesting a sense of an unexpected meeting or a chance encounter. Google Translate renders it as I Know You, while one YouTuber translated it as The Way I Came to Know You.
The initial release of this album came from Relax-In, a local Lebanese label founded in 1985.
